Tearing down the old homestead

Our old homestead was torn down on an April day in 2008 by the new owner. That morning, I stepped outside onto my porch, just up the road from there, and I could hear the sound of a backhoe. It sounded like it was coming from the old farm so I grabbed my camera and walked down to see. Sure enough, the old house was nearly half gone by the time I arrived. These are just a few photos taken with a 35mm camera.

Grandma's old house and former Mt. Holly post office

The former Mt. Holly, VT post office and grandma's old house

This old house was my grandma's home for awhile and was the Mt. Holly, Vermont, post office for many years before that. It no longer exists even in its dilapidated condition. It was torn down several years ago. I remember having Sunday dinners there with her after church. The church was just around the corner and it, too, no longer exists because it burned down a few years ago. I managed to take these photos of the old house just before it was demolished.
