Short lived art studio

Two years ago we sold our little thrift shop to a wonderful couple who had recently moved into the neighborhood. After 17 years, lots of estate clean outs and one devastating flood, it was time to move on with plans for retirement. The last year or two in the shop, we downsized the retail area and created studio space for my art. The art studio we had built at home was still being occupied by a guest, so I needed a temporary space for creating. The shop was the next best thing.

Once negotiations began for the sale of this property and our home studio guest moved on, the transition began. Art, furnishings and supplies were packed up and moved to the backyard studio. It was a melancholy but happy time knowing there would be less expenses and less travel involved.

Little did I realize just how many art supplies and furnishings I had! Everything art and studio related was funneled into my 12’ x 24’ wooden structure. It filled up very quickly but I’ve been organizing and reorganizing, as well as purging when necessary. There is still more to be done but it’s been a blessing to have everything and this space just a few steps from the front door of our home. What a treat to just drop everything and create on a whim.

It’s still very crowded and congested in the art studio but everything I need is there at the ready when inspiration strikes. I also love sharing this creative space with our children, 3 grandchildren, other family members and friends when we gather for summer art retreats. My hope is that, long after I’m gone, my grandchildren will continue to enjoy this space and pass it on to their children, knowing how much grandma loved her little art studio and them!

The Vermont GOP just proved my point…

Vermont politics are heating up big time and there is much at stake, including free speech which the VTGOP seems to have an aversion to. Let’s face it, I’m an artist and I love to create. I’m able to express my thoughts in artistic ways and I really do like this newfangled technology. When I see an injustice being perpetrated on someone, especially when a big political machine is out to destroy a man and his family, I cannot sit idly by. The VTGOP is out of control and I’ve witnessed them eating their own for decades. They’re just not so good at hiding their antics anymore. To prove my point the VTGOP doesn’t like free speech (or my sense of humor) here is the meme version of my story…

.

The VTGOP isn’t the only one who finds itself on my drawing board…

Now, back to the VTGOP’s shenanigans…

Hey, Vermont GOP…
