The world through my eyes

Over the years I've taken lots of photos with all kinds of cameras. With modern technology it's fun to play around with different techniques and styles. Sometimes changing a color photo into a black and white one can make all the difference in how the subject appears. Cropping can change a so-so photo into a dynamic one. I enjoy experimenting with the digital process now that the developing process has basically been eliminated. Here are some of my favorite photos over the years with some tweaking:

Lovin' his watermelon

Nothing is more fun than watching a small tyke eating some messy watermelon and watching the expressions on his face. Little ones are so photogenic and once they spot a camera they seem to instinctively begin to entertain for the lens.

My favorite cowboy

My favorite cowboy
This black and white photo was taken with a 35 mm camera in the late 1970's. It is one of my all time favorite photographs. It was a result of an assignment for a photography class I was taking at the time. I was learning to develop my own film in the dark room so I needed to shoot with black and white. My dad posed for this photo while standing inside his old truck just at the top of the tailgate during a gymkhana. He was always a willing subject and one of my favorite people to photograph. The fly on his hat was just along for the ride.

Young girl and her horse on a knoll

Young girl and her horse on a knoll
This photo was taken in the late 1970's with a 35mm camera. It was then scanned and digitized to make it appear as a painting. My sister posed for this photo with her horse 'Misty' and this has always been one of my favorite composition portrait photos. I took this photo on the knoll behind our old farm.
